❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What is HEIC?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11. It uses advanced compression to create files about 50% smaller than JPG while maintaining similar quality. It's based on the HEIF (High Efficiency Image File Format) standard.

Why convert HEIC to JPG?

While HEIC is great for saving space on your iPhone, it's not universally compatible. You need to convert HEIC to JPG when:
• **Sharing photos** with friends who don't use Apple devices
• **Uploading to websites** that don't support HEIC
• **Sending via email** (many email clients block HEIC)
• **Using in documents** or presentations
• **Posting on social media** (most platforms prefer JPG)

Will I lose quality?

JPG uses lossy compression, which means some quality is sacrificed to achieve smaller file sizes. However, at high quality settings (92-95%), the difference is barely noticeable to the human eye. Your photos will still look great for sharing and printing.

What about Live Photos?

This tool converts the still image portion of Live Photos. The video/motion part is not preserved. You'll get a standard JPG image.

Why are my HEIC files so large?

Even though HEIC compresses well, iPhone cameras now take very high-resolution photos (12MP to 48MP). A single HEIC can be 2-5MB. After converting to JPG at high quality, files may be 3-8MB – this is normal for high-quality photos.

Is there a file size or number limit?

We recommend up to 10 images and total size under 200MB. HEIC conversion requires more processing power than other formats, so large batches may be slower. You can always do multiple batches.

Are my images safe?

100% private – all processing happens in your browser using the heic2any library. Your images never leave your device. No uploads, no servers, no data collection. Apple doesn't see your photos either!

Do I need special software?

No! Everything works in your browser. The heic2any library does all the work locally. No apps to install, no accounts to create.

Can I arrange images before conversion?

Yes! Use the up/down buttons next to each image to set the order. The converted JPGs will appear in that order in the download list.
